Gillows of Lancaster: A Rosewood Library Table

Description

GILLOWS of LANCASTER: a fine quality early/mid 19th century rosewood LIBRARY TABLE in splendid condition.

Below the beautifully figured top with its rounded corners, are two shallow drawers to the frieze, with egg-and-dart moulding around the lower edge. It is supported on typical Gillows carved and fluted solid rosewood columns terminating in "apple" shaped feet with original concealed castors. A handsome Library/Writing Table. 49.5ins long; 29.5ins deep. (125.5 x 75cms).

*A similar Library Table with identical supports and about the same size is illustrated in "Gillows of Lancaster & London" by Susan E. Stuart; Volume 1; page 292.
