Japanese Meiji Period IVory Chicken Farmer Okimono

A fabulous Japanese Meiji period okimono carved from a single piece of ivory depicting a chicken framer in kimono feeding a boy sat by his feet with grapes whilst the other hand feeds a rooster perched on his shoulder. The man is beautifully detailed with decorative clothing and carries a tobacco pouch with kizeru-tutzu at the back of his belt and a fan strapped to the top of his head! This superb okimono is beautifully drawn and very well carved, it has three very minor chips to the bird’s comb, the handle of the fan and a leaf at the back; otherwise the condition is excellent.
