Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Regency era.
In beautifully figured mahogany, it stands on out-swept sabre legs to the front and back. It has a stuff-over seat which has been newly recovered in an embroidered cream fabric over the existing upholstery which is in fair condition. Solid and sturdy, with good original patina. Lots of age and wear, with some old mends to the top rail (see photos). Would make a superb desk chair. Dating from circa 1810.
