Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1890s.

The front retains the wonderful engraved shield to the front, a wedding gift in 1891, a piece of Victorian history. The hinged lid when opened reveals the original ceramic liner intact.
The underside is where the shield mount is to be found with the makers mark for the well renowned silversmith, Henry Bourne of Birmingham.
Excellent condition measuring 7 1/2" handle to handle x 7" x 6 1/4" tall.
