An antique silver pocket watch with chain.

The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch itself measures 48mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the two case backs for London 1911 with a sponsor’s (or importer’s) mark for Robert Pringle & Sons.

In 1907, an act came into force which meant that all imported watches had to be assayed in a UK assay office and marked with British import hallmarks. For this, a sponsor's mark was required. In this particular case, the SP mark was registered on behalf of Robert Pringle & Sons.

The front of the case is in good condition. The hinged back has some unevenness but the engine turned detail is still nice and crisp.

The watch glass is in good condition.

The white enamel dial is in good condition and has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes on a single nickel chain which measures 29cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
