In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The stool is adjustable in height and moves up and down by turning the knobs either side of the seat. The mechanism is stamped "Marsdens Patent" and also marked with the numbers '5697'.
It is in very good condition for its age. The new upholstery is clean and tidy. The adjustment mechanism runs smoothly and the stool is very stable. The wood has a beautiful rich grain and has been waxed to retain its natural aged patina. The wood is free from any major knocks or damages and is overall a good sturdy construction. It displays beautifully and is ready for the home.
