A Benson Oil Lamp with Original Cranberry Shade

1900 - 1920
Description

Circa 1910 an original W.A.S. Benson oil lamp Registered No: 65891 with an original cranberry etched glass shade.

The lamp is copper and brass with a cast iron weight inside the base, making it very stable.

It measures 70cm in height in total; with a shade measuring 21cm wide and 15cm in height. The base of the lamp measures approximately 18.5cm in diameter, and everything is in very good condition.

The burner control switch has a white porcelain top and is clearly marked: HINKS'S NO 2 DUPLEX.

The Benson trade mark is clearly visible on the cap of the oil container - see photo 4, and the registered number is inside brass frame around the wick.
