Antique Furniture Direct has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
The stuff-over seat has been newly recovered in a cream brocade fabric witch matching braid. Solid and sturdy, would make a wonderful desk chair.

Solid and sturdy. Some old mends and splits to the gothic arched back splats (see photos). Newly recovered over existing upholstery which is fairly new. A few old worm holes under the seat rails.
