A splendid large Chinese carved soapstone figure of the Bodhisattva, Guanyin holding a lotus flower and wearing a chignon, beautifully detailed with carved decoration to her robe. C.1890 this carving has two holes on the underside which probably allowed the figure to be pegged onto a hardwood stand, it has 3 chips to the flower resting on her shoulder otherwise the condition is good commensurate with age.
