Japanese Meiji Period IVory Okimono Of A Fruit Harvester

A fantastic quality Japanese Meiji period okimono carved from a single piece of ivory depicting an elderly woman wearing waraji carrying a farming scythe in her left hand she carries a basket of fruit and flowers on her back supported by a rope held with her right hand. This stunning okimono is beautifully drawn and very well carved with a signature om the base along with 2 decorative clam shells. It has a small, stable age crack on the left side of her head otherwise the condition is excellent.
