Fabulous English Art Nouveau or Arts & Crafts wardrobe and hall stand by the celebrated English cabinet makers Shapland & Petter of Barnstable c.1905. Single door cloak cupboard with an exceptional marquetry inlaid pattern of stylized plant forms to the upper panel, just the kind of Art Nouveau influenced design for which Shapland & Petter became famous. Fitted inside with brass hooks for coats and a single shelf. Flanked on each side with narrow side panels fitted with sinuous shaped brass double hooks for coats and hats, a narrow shelf and a quarter circle bobbin turned gallery for sticks and umbrellas with removable metal drip trays below. Further more traditional carved and inlaid detail to the cornice and front of the wardrobe. Original brass door handle and lock, stamped S&P B. Stamped on the rear with a registered design number.

It would appear that a set of hooks have been lost (or possibly just moved) from both external sides of the wardrobe body.
