A Gents Silver Wrist Watch, 1914

A gents 1914 silver wrist watch.

The watch has a hand-winding movement which is working nicely.

The watch itself measures 32mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case back for London (import mark) 1914 with an importer’s mark for George Stockwell. From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items, which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail.

The original wire lugs have been replaced with sturdier lugs… it looks like the work was carried out a long time ago. The winding crown is a replacement. The case has some unevenness to the back but overall is in a very acceptable condition for such an early piece.

The lens is in lovely condition.

The white enamel dial has a faint hairline crack running from 10 to 12 but it is difficult to see with the naked eye.

A later leather strap has been fitted.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
