Rare Antique Khirgyz Carpet, Khirgyzstan.

Description

This rare and stunning square carpet was made by Khirgyz tribes during the mid 19th century - maybe earlier. The main border is symbolically interesting and it frames the magnificent red field containing diagonal heraldic crests. The colours are superb and the carpet is in good overall condition albeit some minor areas of corrosive wear and a small areas of re-piling. Rare!
