Japanese Carved Stag Antler Pipe Case Kiseru-tutzu – Edo Period

A fabulous Japanese stag antler pipe case (referred to as a Kiseru-tutzu) made in the Edo period it is superbly carved around the body on both sides with a continuous scene depicting a fisherman crossing a bridge with a companion waiting at the other side. In the background lies a house with a mountainous horizon behind it and the small handle on the side is incorporated into the scene as the trunk of an overhanging tree. This stunning pipe case is in excellent condition.
