Collinge Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.
With extensive and superb quality gilded ormolu mounts cast as rams heads, laurel leaves and floral swags, again all forms borrowed from classical art. In remarkable condition, original throughout. With an engraved plaque to the base of one dated 1919 and recording them as having been presented in to one Mr Segures Cyrille for 25 years service to the company of A.J Simon & Fils. As the garnitures are identical on both sides the plaque can be turned to the rear if preferred.
