Description

An 18th Century Delft Apothecary Jar.

The rounded raised rim, above a vertical collar, spreading an orb shaped body. The body with a long tapering spout, connected to the collar, with an open ring, and to the other side a broad tapering handle. The body sweeping to a ring socle and stem, spreading to the circular foot, with recessed underside. The body painted with a floral and leaf border, the centre titled 'M. VIOLARUM'.

Date c 1720.

Height 8 1/2 inches, width 9 inches, depth 5 1/2 inches.
