Large 19th C Faience Jug

Description

A Large 19th Century Tin Glazed Faience Jug with Pewter Cover.

The hinged pewter lid with domed top, and scroll thumb grip, above the outward tapered neck and spout. The neck tapered to a ring, and thence orb body, with a small spreading foot rim. The body and neck mounted with the tall rounded handle. The whole well and attractively painted with sprigs of flowers, roses, carnations and tulips, with foliage and a beetle! The handle and spout decorated with scrolled dash work, and the edges picked out with line decoration.

In very good condition.

Date c 1850.
