Edwardian Wall Hanging Dinner Chimes

1900 - 1920
Description

This beautiful brass set of chimes come with the original wood and brass backplate.

There are seven brass chimes around the ornate gallery and they hang from a large ornate hook attached to the backplate. All of the pieces are original and in good condition.

The longest chime is 58cm in length and the set are 70cm in length from the hook. The wooden backplate is approximately 32cm in length and 14cm across at the widest points, with the ornate curved hook standing 18.5cm from the wall plate.

It appears that the chimes were restrung some time ago, and they are nicely balanced and sound absolutely gorgeous. The purple wool strand holding the gong is possibly original and has come apart underneath the gong and been sewn together. The wooden gong disc is original and in excellent condition.
