1920s Silver Elgin Pocket Watch, Chain and Vesta

A 1920s silver Elgin pocket watch with chain and vesta.

The watch has a stem-winding movement, grade 293, which is working nicely. The movement is fully signed and the serial number dates it back to 1921. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch itself measures 51mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks for Birmingham 1923 with a maker’s mark for Aaron Dennison. The case is in good condition, just very light surface marks and some wear to the engine turned detail on the back of the watch from repeated use over the years.

The watch glass has light marking but very acceptable.

The signed white enamel dial is in good condition. It has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes with a silver double chain… the chain is not hallmarked but has tested positively in three places. Each chain measures 25cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The chain weighs 36.5g.

Also included is a silver vesta case, hallmarked for London 1920. There is some fairly shallow unevenness on both sides, again just from use.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
