Large Monogrammed Rosewood Casket C1820

Description

A Large Early 19th Century Casket.

The well, and tightly grained, rosewood body, with a hinged lid. The centre tablet surrounded by concave panels, and thence concave lower rails. The body with two section of concave panels, tapering to the base mounted with well cast lion paw feet. The whole edged and strung in boxwood, the body mounted with classical gathered leaf and floral handles. The interior lined in silk.

Date c 1820.

Height 12 1/2 inches, width 21 1/2 inches, depth 15 1/2 inches.
