Collinge Antiques has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Of unusual architectural form, the narrower cupboard top having arched mouldings to the doors resting on faux columns over a stepped plinth. Note how the rounded ebonised moulding that begins above the columns and runs over the doors is repeated at the top of the base. Superb flame mahogany door panels with ebonised mouldings, brass trim and a crossbanded surround on solid mahogany groundwork. Base has and unusual configuration of four small drawers and one long, all retaining their original large brass knobs with a delightful floral garland detail at the centre. Raised on unusual and original carved feet front and rear. Solid mahogany sides to both pieces. Old damage to the crossbanding near the top of the right hand door, otherwise excellent condition with original hinges, latches, locks and key. Cleaned and polished in our workshops. Splits into two pieces for ease of delivery. The top could be fitted with a hanging rail if preferred.
Dimensions: width 55½", depth 24½", height 81".
