Superb George 111 Mahogany Bureau Bookcase C1780

Description

This is a superb antique george 111 mahogany bureau bookcase and dating from aorund 1780. It has a cornice top with carved frieze above two astragal glazed doors qith brass escutcheon and key and three adjustable internal shelves.

The bureau has a brass escutcheon to the fall front which opens to reveal a central door with arched panel and bookend secret compartments to either side. There are two small drawers to each side with a further long drawer below. Four pigeon holes with shaped frieze to the top section. To the base there are four long graduating drawers all of which are oak lined with original handles and escutcheons. It is moulded to the base and stand son lovely bracket feet.

It is in lovely condition and oozes the charm and character of the period with good colour and patination. There is a very short & old grain line about 2.5" long to the top right hand side of the fall front. This is hardly noticeable and certainly does not detract in any way.

A superb georgian bookcase bureau that measures: 88" high X height to top of bureau 42" X knee height 30" X 21" deep X internal depth (top) 8" X 43" wide
