Late 18th.c. longcase clock with works by John Owen of Llanrwst, one of the most celebrated Welsh clock makers of his time and founder of the famous Owen dynasty of clock makers, of which his son Watkin is probably best known. Tall oak case, the hood featuring a broken pediment and turned pillars, over a long slim door with shaped top. Eight day works featuring the Owen’s trademark five pillar movement and striking the hours on a bell. Highly decorative engraved brass dial with pierced spandrels and a separate silvered chapter ring, second dial and date display. Excellent condition, the works have been cleaned and overhauled and are sold with a twelve month guarantee.
