A Gents Antique Elgin Wrist Watch

1900 - 1920
Description

A gents antique Elgin wrist watch.

The watch has a hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Elgin name and the serial number 14,473,451 dates it back to around 1910.

The watch itself measures 31.5mm wide excluding the winding crown and 31.5mm high excluding the lugs. The case is 10k gold filled and was made by the Star Watch Case Company who started trading in 1897 making cases for Elgin. The detailing along each side of the case is a charming feature.

The signed white enamel dial has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers. There are a few faint hairline cracks in the bottom half of the dial but they are not too noticeable to the naked eye.

A later leather strap has been fitted.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
