Webster, London Regency Twin Fusee Bracket Clock

Description

A Georgian Regency mahogany English Lancet top bracket clock. Choice veneers with ebonised mouldings. A cast brass bezel to the convex dial with blued steel hands. Brass lion head side handles and well cast side sound fretwork panels. Brass bun feet of acorn design. A well engraved backplate and pendulum to the double fusee mechanism of 8-day duration striking the hours on a bell. Signed 'Webster London' to the backplate and 'Webster, Cornhill London' to the dial. Pull repeating cord and an original crank key.

The Webster family of clock makers are well documented and highly regarded. They moved in 1813 to Cornhill from Exchange Alley. This example dates to circa 1820.
