Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the Regency era.
The upper divisions are of solid rosewood with carved laurel leaves to the centre and turned spacers, whilst the base has four acorn finials to the corners and a mahogany lined frieze drawer, with turned legs and original castors. Good colour and patina. 21ins (53.5cms) wide.
But... why a "Canterbury"? Perhaps an archbishop of that City ordered one for his sheet music?
