Fabulous and quite rare Art Deco bronze sculpture signed Matto, a pseudonym of Marcel Bouraine.
Showing a smiling young dancing girl wearing a short dress that has fallen from her shoulders. She's striding forward, high on her toes and turning her head to look at the mask of 'Comedy' that she's holding up high in her left hand. In her other hand she holds the mask of 'Tragedy'.
Patinated in a gold colour with the dress shading to dark greyish-blue towards the bottom.
The signature is on the bronze socle which is mounted on a three-tier portoro marble base.
Dating from circa mid to late 1920's and measuring just over 50 cm high overall with the marble base around 28.5 X 11 cm.
In good condition with no damage but the patina is somewhat worn in places. We considered having her re-patinated but feel that decision is best left to a new owner
