Description

An impressive , fine quality, inlaid mahogany sideboard dating from the reign of George III. Of superb serpentine fronted shape, with a bold central bow fronted section. Well made in solid mahogany and decorated with profuse inlaid detailing throughout. The banding to the top is in burr yew with other floral detailing in satinwood, mahogany and various fruit woods. Further inlaid detailing includes swags, ribbons, harebells and scrolling floral designs. The whole sideboard is surmounted with its original bold brass gallery, really eye-catching. Storage space is afforded by a central bow fronted drawer, over a shelf, flanked by a deep drawer to one side and a cupboard the other. All fitted with brass lions head and hoop handles and bone escutcheons. All standing on tapering legs which terminate in spade feet. We have had this sideboard cleaned and waxed. It has an excellent colour and patina and is ready to go straight into the home.
