Mid-victorian Rosewood Fusee Mantle Clock

Description

ANONYMOUS: a handsome mid-19th century rosewood (Railway) MANTLE TIMEPIECE of "Four-Glass" type in perfect working order.

The well-figured rosewood case is fitted with Gothic brass fretwork panels to the sides and is supported on compressed bun feet below the 'cushion' shaped base. The 8-day fusee movement, complete with original pendulum retains its good engraved and silvered dial together with "Breguet" moon hands.

***Unsigned but with a plaque underneath: "GWR 97" which refers to it once having been the property of the Great Western Railway. 14ins ( 35.5cms) high. c.1840
