Nicely Fitted Regency Period Sewing Box

Description

A good quality early 19th century Regency period fitted SEWING BOX complete with its original fittings.

The box itself is of rosewood, profusely inlaid with brass and complete with its original rosewood "ring" handles to both sides. The lid opens to reveal the gold-silk lined interior with lidded compartments and various tools and implements including: set of 6 carved Mother-of-Pearl reels; pair of thimbles; tape measure; scissors and other tools etc., whilst the lid is beautifully lined in ruched gold silk within an ornate gilt-tooled leather surround. 12.5 x 10 x 7ins (32 x 25 x 18cms)
