AXEL NORDGREN: a charming landscape OIL PAINTING on canvas of an Alpine scene, probably in the Bavarian region of Southern Germany.

This appealing landscape depicts a mountain village, with partially snow-covered peaks in the background and a figure carrying a basket walking up a path to the foreground. Signed and dated 1858. 27 x 19ins (68.5 x 48cms) including the frame.

**Axel Wilhelm NORDGREN was born in Sweden in 1828 and later studied art in Dusseldorf, where in remained for the rest of his life. He died in 1888.
