Georgian American Hickory and Maple Windsor Chair. Circa 1770

Description

Rare late 18th. century Pennsylvania American hickory and maple comb back windsor armchair having shaped maple dished seat and raised on finely turned 'arrow' pattern legs. All in superb un-touched original condition with no repairs. All is firm. Lovely soft colour with fine waxed patina. There are traces of the original paint on seat. See illustration 5 in 'The Windsor Chair' by Thomas H. Ormisbee for a very similar chair (last two images).

Size; 40" high, 24" wide at arms, 22" deep, 18" high seat.
