A Fabulous Set of Four Georgian Silver Wine Labels.

Description

This fabulous set of four Georgian silver single letter wine labels form part of a matching set. This set contains the letters 'C' for Claret, 'S' for Sherry, 'P' for Port and 'M' for Madeira. Made by Joseph Willmore the letters feature the heads of Dionysus in relief among flowerheads and acanthus leaves. They are supported on a belcher style chain. These wonderful pieces will appeal both to collectors and would make a practical and delightful gift idea.

Condition :- Excellent, with no cracks or dents. The chains to the 'M' and 'S' both have some supporting thread.

Hallmarks :- Clear and readable. The 'M' letter features two markers marks and no date letter.

Maker :- Joseph Willmore .

Dates :- Birmingham. 'C' 1823. 'S' 1825. 'P' 1818. 'M' C1820.

Width of largest (M) :- 3.25 cms.

Height of all :- 2.5 cms.
