Pair of Regency Armchairs C.1820

19th century
Description

Exceptional pair of Regency era mahogany armchairs c.1820. Upholstered backrest with a gently arched cresting rail and roll over top. Solid mahogany arms carved with a typical Regency papyrus leaf motif where they meet the backrest, repeated as a scrolling detail on the terminals and again on the legs. Further fine quality carving to the shaped arm supports. Sprung seat with a bow front edge and veneered apron raised on carved front legs. Excellent colour and condition, frames have been cleaned and polished in our workshops. Seat and backs freshly reupholstered in a quality patterned fabric by Zoffany.
