Description

Intriguing late 18th.c. oil on canvas portrait believed to be of Lady Emma Hamilton, mistress of Lord Nelson c.1790. Artist is unrecorded but it is beautifully painted in a soft style, the young sitter shown in late 18th.c. fashion with loose curling hair decorated with a green ribbon. With some splits to the edge of the canvas and later repairs and restoration. Presented unframed on a wooden stretcher
