Description

Very nice pair of early Georgian silver salvers with ornate scrolled border and set on 3 realistic lion paw feet. Made by fine silversmith Gabriel Sleath. They are attractively engraved with a crest depicting an arm rising out of a crown, the hand grasping a snake, and with a delicate patterned border of flowers and scrolls. Hallmarked for London 1746.

They measure 6 3/4" wide and just under 1" high. They weigh a substantial 567g/18.2ozt combined. Condition is very good; there is a very tiny dint to the surface of one and also a very tiny hole in the silver towards the edge, 2mm by 1mm, but it is along the site of a crease and appears original; the silver is so thick and the location would make it very unlikely to be later damage.
