Magnificent Antique Scottish Fern Engraved Biscuit Box C.1880

Description

A magnificent and most unusual example of a late Victorian biscuit box. The frame sits on three Lion's paw feet with fluted columns terminating in grand Lion's heads.

The beautiful shaped crystal liner is beautifully hand engraved with Ferns with a cut rim. The lid is full marked on the underside for the Scottish silversmith and jeweller, JAMES BALLANTYNE & SON of Glasgow.

A real gem in excellent condition. 8 1/4" tall to top of lid finial and 9 1/2" tall to top of handle while upright. The glass diameter measuring 5 1/2".
