M Lees and Sons has dated this piece to the 19th Century.
Well-carved scrolling 'stiff-leaf' corbels each with apertures through to support the curtain poles. The scrolls with intricately carved flower-head detail. The flowers appear to be highly symbolic and romantic Myosotis or "Forget-me-nots" .

Mounted upon gilded flat wooden back-plates of stylised gothic outline .
In excellent original condition with minor rubbing and wear to the original gilding , showing atmospheric red gesso ground beneath. Some minor losses to gesso.

Fitted with original metal supports to provide strength when fitted and hung with drapes, which could easily removed if desired.
Interestingly the reverses with pencil inscriptions for the locations of original positioning , "North Front" etc .
