An Exceptional Italian Walnut Inlaid Cabinet

An exceptional Italian walnut and bone inlaid two door cabinet with marquetry figured panels circa 1850. Of the finest form this cabinet has been constructed in walnut and adorned with bone / ivory inlay having exotic wood inlaid panels. This exhibition quality cabinet having a domed panelled cornice flanked by scrolled leaf carvings above a two tier cornice having canted corners both with carved mouldings. Below which are two panelled doors with marquetry mythological figures having their bodies in ivory with their clothing in a variety of exotic woods on a satinwood background.

The doors open to reveal two inlaid drawers have brass drop handles. Flanking the doors are two carved figured heads flowing down to acanthus leaf foliage above a shaped and carved moulded edge sitting on a inlaid shaped base with egg and dart moulding and inlaid frieze supported by finely carved mythological winged female figures with "C" scrolled bodies and terminating on clawed knuckled feet. The lower base having a wonderful geometric three dimensional shaped vase having tapering flowering plant and central shaped panel with the whole being raised on a carved canted cornered and inlaid base.

This exceptional Italian cabinet having been wax polished is in excellent condition with a lovely patina and beautiful colour which will make a fine addition to any collection or home. This item should be viewed if interested to see its full presence.
