A large and stunning antique French specimen marble and ormolu portico clock set. It is classical in style, the clock is mounted between a classical four column portico with the pendulum visible swinging below. Pendulum depicts the sun god and is also ormolu. The top of the clock has a finial of a quiver of arrows and a flaming torché and there are finials of musical trophies above the columns. The ovoid urns have two urns with a floral swag and a musical finial.

The specimen marble is beautifully figured and the ormolu is well modelled and finished.

The dial is enamel on copper, decorated with floral swags delicately painted between the numbers of the dial. Hands are gilded fretted brass.

The French movement is of the highest quality and has the Fritz Marti mark on the movement backplate. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Ormolu pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, marble has a very good polish with no major chips or scratches, just the usual tiny nibbles to the edges. Ormolu is also in very good condition with a bright and clean finish. Dial is in very good condition with just two light scratches and some slight chipping around the Brocot shaft.

Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
