In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the 1900s.
It also comes with its original glass inkwell in a leather holder marked 'INK' and a leather box containing matches marked 'LIGHT'.

When not in use the writing table folds neatly on its X-Frame legs by pressing 2 sprung button catches on the underside. The frame is made of mahogany and is superb quality with elegant legs and a central reeded stretcher.

As well as being an interesting decorative piece of furniture it is very practical and certainly usable. It is very sturdy when folded out as a writing table and could be used for writing or even a laptop could be rested on it.

Overall the piece is in superb condition for its age. Externally the wood has a lovely rich patina with no major damages. The legs are strong and sturdy and it folds smoothly. There is a very small chip which has been repaired at some point (see photo) and inside on the border there is a very old repair (see photo). Neither points are at all detrimental. There are some small knocks and general marks consistent with age around the outer wood but nothing major.

Internally the leather is in good condition and is generally clean and tidy. There are some small scuffs and creases as are to be expected but the interior is one of the nicest examples I have seen on a piece like this.

Approximate Measurements:
