Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1890s.
The base is made from Walnut standing on four ball feet with brass handles each side.
Behind this is an ammunition box, which is indeed a postage stamp box with double sloped compartments to accommodate stamps. To the right of this is a cylindrical inkwell which opens to reveal the nickel lidded inkwell with a removable glass ink chamber within.
Dating to around 1890, Victorian in era; this gem is in excellent condition measuring 10" x 6 1/4" x 3" tall.
