Rare Antique Walnut Desk Set - Gun Theme C.1890

Description

A rare and magnificent desk set, the likes of which I haven't seen before. It could either be English in origin or indeed from the continent, perhaps Austria.

The base is made from Walnut standing on four ball feet with brass handles each side.

It is the theme that is a rarity with a metal and hand carved Walnut gun affixed to the front of the stand. Behind this is an ammunition box, which is indeed a postage stamp box with double sloped compartments to accommodate stamps. To the right of this is a cylindrical inkwell which opens to reveal the nickel lidded inkwell with a removable glass ink chamber within.

Dating to around 1890, Victorian in era; this gem is in excellent condition measuring 10" x 6 1/4" x 3" tall.
