Georgian Irish Silver Swing-handled Basket.

Description

Large size Geo.III Irish silver swing-handled sugar/sweetmeat basket. Of navette shape on a pedestal foot, the body is decorated with typical Irish brightcut engraving, as crisp as the day it was made. The hallmarks are very clear and it is nice to have the maker's mark to the handle, quite rare. The maker is un-identified, but is shown in Douglas Bennett's definitive book on Irish Georgian silver. If you have an appreciation of good Irish silver, this is for you!
