An antique silver pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 49mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the hinged case backs for London (import mark), 1913, together with a sponsor’s (or importer’s) mark for George Stockwell. From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items, which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail. Overall the case is in good condition with just a little unevenness to the back of the watch.

The watch glass is in good order.

The white enamel dial is signed with the original retailer’s name, Fish Bros Ltd, 192 Mare Street, Hackney… at the time, Fish Brothers was a well established jeweller and pawn broker and they are still trading today. The dial is in good condition and the larger Roman numerals are a very handsome feature. Blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes with a silver double albert, with each chain measuring 19.5cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
