Post Impressionist Oil Painting - French School

1920 - 1940
Description

Stunning post impressionist nude signed by the well known French artist Augustin Carrera (1878-1952). The oil in canvas dates from around 1930 and is mounted in a quality frame of the period. The painting is in excellent condition.

Carrera studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts, Paris under Bonnat and Henri Martin and first exhibited at the Salon in Paris in 1904. He received a gold medal at the International Exhibition of 1937. He continued to exhibit at the Salon des Independents, Tuleries and the Salon des Artistes Francais for many years. He is know for he strong technique and the vivacity of his palette an tones. He also decorated two ceilings at the Opera in Marseille in 1927. Carrera is known for his nudes, landscapes and views of ports. He died in Paris in 1952, listed Benizit and has works in Museums in Marseille and Toulouse.
