Georgian Oak Box Seat Armchair C.1800.

Description

George III Welsh oak box seat armchair or lambing chair c.1800. Country interpretation of a Chippendale backrest with a shaped cresting rail over a baluster form backsplat and straight arms on chamfered stiles which continue to the floor. Hinged seat, the front board lifts to reveal useful storage inside. Solid oak throughout with original elm floor boards. Old damage to the right hand arm, otherwise excellent condition with particularly good colour and patina.
