Mytton Antiques - Jerrard Nares has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The loop handle formed as a stem of foliage, finished to the ends with broadening scrolled leaves. Amongst the leaves rests recumbent, a winged lion, looking to his front, with one paw outstretched. He rests on the ogee and stepped rectangular plinth base, tapering outward toward the rear. The back impressed '3' and '475'.
Height 11 inches, width 9 inches, depth 2 1/4 inches.
Date c 1830.
