French Boulle Work Mantel Clock

Description

A fine quality boulle and red tortoiseshell mantel clock, Paris, c.1880

Maker: Samuel Marti Paris

Date: 1880

Height: 12" Width: 6" Depth: 4" 

A brass inlaid red tortoiseshell mantel clock, with finely cast orginal gilt bronze mounts .   

The fine quality red tortoiseshell veneered waisted shape case with good quality boulle work and finely cast ormolu mounts. Glazed lower section revealing the decorative starburst pendulum.

The decorated circular gilt dial with twelve piece enamel cartouche tablets with blue Roman numerals. Blued steel hands

The fine quality spring driven 8 day movement countwheel striking the hours and half hour on a single bell, with rise and fall mechanism. stamped on the back plate with serial number 3482 and medallion for Samuel Marti Paris. Gilded starburst decorative pendulum.
