This is a wonderful family of ''chick'' salts and peppers, from the highly collectable silversmiths, Sampson Mordan & Co. Clearly hallmarked on the side, with partial hallmarks on the screw off bases, for Chester 1907, they are also stamped with the retailer, Mappin & Webb.
The salts have open eyes and mouths for pouring and the peppers have holes in the head. The screw off bases are tightly fitted. There are a number of small dents to the bodies of the chicks and the bases, but none detracts from the overall appearance, as can be seen in the photographs.
