Description

I love the sky-blue 'boteh' graphics in the madder-red field of this charming little prayer-rug with its tiny mihrab very subtly placed and coloured in green. On either side of the mihrab, the weaver has attempted a date - quite illegible - but possibly copied from another rug that she had to hand.

Made in the Kazak Mountains region of the south-western Caucasus around 1900, the rug oozes charm and minimalism.

Size: 1.37m x 0.91m (4' 6" x 3' 0").
